Discover the skills we teach in each grade
Our grade-by-grade approach builds confidence, comprehension, and skill — one milestone at a time.
It's more than a session—it's complete support
Every week follows a clear, research-based rhythm that builds skills, confidence, and motivation —
without adding stress for parents.
Your child begins tutoring right away — meeting their tutor and starting their first Reading Unit in the web app.
You’ll complete a short baseline assessment at home so the tutor knows exactly where to begin.
Each week brings a 50-minute tutoring session and a new Reading Unit with short, focused lessons.
Between sessions, your child completes a quick skills check — so you always know what’s improving.
Reading becomes smoother. Comprehension deepens. Motivation rises.
Your tutor stays consistent, supportive, and focused on measurable growth.
Baseline Assessment:
Early in the program, you complete a short reading assessment that gives a clear
starting point.

Parents are often worried their child might be bored or intimidated, but after attending just one session, they'll see all of our programs are warm, encouraging, and very low-pressure. We laugh, celebrate small wins, and mistakes are treated as part of learning and not something to be embarrassed about. Since we're not at school, kids feel comfortable being themselves and aren't afraid to earnestly try.

One of my students struggled with reading out loud and reading fluently. He really tried and put his best effort forward, but he still got tripped up and liked to guess rather than blend the words out. That's really common, especially when kids don't have as much confidence in their abilities. But while I've only been tutoring him for about 5 weeks, he can read sentences fluently, with emotion and proper inflection. I'm so proud of how far he's come and how confident he now feels in his abilities.

Through our immersive lessons, the roots of the Institute of Reading Development grow from mastering phonics patterns and word work. These life-long habits and patterns we teach our students help them to decode unknown vocabulary. With that development, I have seen immediate confidence and love for reading build in my students, setting them on course for expressive and fluent reading.

My daughter has only had two sessions of this program and we were doing a lesson from last week's online phonics homework (oops) AND SHE IS READING THE WORDS ON THE SCREEN. Is this real life? I could burst into tears right now. Is this magic? How did this even happen???

Parent of 1st Grader

This is a great program! I had a reluctant reader who I expected would resist this every step of the way. Instead, he was really engaged and emerged a more motivated, confident and faster reader who feels more confident as he enters middle school. Highly recommend!
Kate L.
Parent of 6th Grader

The reading program was exceptionally well-organized and thoughtfully designed to foster a love for reading in children. Starting with easy-to-read books and gradually introducing more complex ones, including reading and writing activities, was an excellent approach.
Angie L_K
Parent of 5th Grader

My son had major breakthroughs with reading. He mastered fluency, silent letters, reading comprehension, and vocabulary. He read with expression so clearly you could feel the story come alive. His overall confidence has grown so much. For the past two weeks, he has been reading his chapter books to me instead of asking me to read to him.

Honest answers about schedules, guarantees, and results. We’ve helped millions of parents
through the same questions.
How does scheduling work?
Right after you enroll, you’ll see our live schedule and pick a weekly time that works for your family. That becomes your child’s regular spot each week with the same teacher, so you don’t have to re‑book every time. We recommend choosing your first session within the first week so you can make the most of your 14‑Day Test Drive.
What if we need to miss or reschedule a session?
Life happens. You can reschedule a session up to 24 hours before your scheduled time. Just email us at help@readingprograms.org and we’ll work with you to find another spot. Sessions missed or canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not typically made up, so we encourage you to reschedule as soon as you know there’s a conflict.
What if we pay and none of the available times work for us?
Email us at help@readingprograms.org and tell us what days and times you can do. We’re very used to working with busy and unusual schedules, and we’ll do our best to open or adjust a slot for you. If, in the unlikely event we truly can’t find a workable time, you can cancel for a full refund within 21 days of enrollment.
Is this only for struggling readers?
Not at all. We work with children at all reading levels – from those who need extra support to on‑track students who need more challenge, to advanced readers who want to go further faster. The first step is understanding where your child is right now; then we match the level of support to their needs.
Can we switch between small‑group and 1‑on‑1 tutoring?
Yes. You can move between small‑group (up to 6 students) and 1‑on‑1 tutoring, subject to teacher availability. Just email us at help@readingprograms.org and tell us which plan you’d like next.
Plan changes always start with your next billing period (whether you’re on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly plan). We don’t change or refund the rate for the current billing period once it has started.
How does the 14‑Day Test Drive guarantee and refunds work?
We want you to decide after you’ve seen your child in real sessions, not just read a webpage.
Here’s how it works:
After that window, tutoring payments are non‑refundable, but you can cancel anytime to stop future charges. Full details are in our refund policy, but the spirit is simple: try us, see your child in action, then decide with confidence.
What payment options are available?
You can pay with any major credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Klarna (which may offer pay‑over‑time options).
Your plan is priced per week (for example, $49/week for small‑group tutoring) and is billed weekly. After your 14‑Day Test Drive, you’ll also have the option to upgrade to discounted monthly or quarterly plans to save more compared to paying week‑to‑week.
For a limited time, the $99 enrollment fee is waived for new students; there are no additional hidden fees.
For Pre‑K–5 parents who won’t leave reading to chance. Weekly live tutoring for Pre-K-5th Grade starting at $49/week, backed by a 14-Day Test Drive.
If you aren't thrilled after 2 lessons,
we'll refund 100% of what you've paid.
